Try Adding Color When you Retire in Mexico

copywrite Julia Taylor 2008The colors of our house have brought us happiness for 5 years now. I would never have picked them myself because they seem “too” bright. My neighbor picked them and painted the house before offering it for rent. I am so grateful because the colors have made me feel more joyful than I would have were I looking at boring conservative colors. Our front room is a strong yellow that makes me think of afternoon sunshine or bright firelight. It welcomes everyone who walks in our door. Many times people have come in and immediately commented on how much they like our house. I know it’s not the furniture that is attractive so it must be the colors. In our bedroom I like to see the way the shadows create different restful tones of the new grass green color. Beyond our room, the other room is a dreamy sky blue made even more dreamy by the solar orange-yellow archway that connects them. My embroidered Mexican art has these colors and many more in it and it brings out just the right jubilant feeling.

copywrite Julia Taylor 2008I don’t know if you are like myself and so many people I know. We paint our homes neutral colors that will go with anything. We don’t get too crazy because we don’t want to get tired of the color (like we did with 70s olive green during the 80s). When you retire in Mexico, don’t do this! Go ahead and surround yourself with rich, wonderful colors.
