My Skeleton Is Hungry November 1
Last night my husband came home after dark. As soon as he came inside he closed the door and waited. A moment later we heard the sound of children’s voices outside. “Mi calvera tiene hambre” they sang (My skeleton is hungry). That’s the song that children sing on Halloween–even though it is not the main focus for this season. Our neighbor, who is in her 50s says kids here have been singing that song all along.
“Do we have any candy to give them?” he asked.
No.
“Do you have any change to give?” he asked, then right away he giggled and added, “No, there about 100 of them.”
Our toddler got curious about who was outside and pried the door open a crack and stuck his head out to look into the black night (we don’t have a porch light and the street light is way down the street.)
“Shhh. Don’t go outside,” my husband giggled to him.
We waited quietly, smiling at their song, for them to head on down the street.
